Camp: It has already been mentioned in the whole school newsletter, but we'll say it again! We were so impressed with the behaviour of the year 3/4 students at Camp Angahook recently. It was a wonderful experience for all students and so fantastic to see such a high level of enthusiasm towards giving everything a go. Thank you to all the staff that supported the camp and made it possible. It was a great success!

Sporting Schools Program: Sign up sheets are on the communication board near the office for a variety of amazing after school sports being offered. Activities will run based on numbers for a 4 week period. The activities are a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in new and different sports, as well as interact with new people! Miss L has done an incredible job getting funding for this program and it would be great to see lot's of activities run and new friendships and interests being formed.

Swimming: Continues to run smoothly. Please remember bathers, towel and underwear each day in a separate bag. Our final session is Thursday 17th of September.
** Regarding Kids' Cafe on Friday the 11th, due to various departure times, Liz and the Kids' Cafe crew have requested that the 3/4 area DO NOT order any hot food, hot chocolate or smoothies. Everything else is still available. If you have pre ordered any of the before mentioned, please edit your order on QKR. Apologies for any inconvenience.

WRITING SAMPLES...
3/4H was the first group for the educational activity called 'Fun and Games'. It was about what children in the past used for entertainment starting from the Aboriginal era. One person from each table got to go an select a box of old toys from different time eras. Our table got the Melbourne Gold Rush era. Our favourite toy was a set of knucklebones.
 Hugo 3/4H.

I had fun at the Melbourne Museum. It was very interesting to learn lots about history.
I would go again if I could!

 HISTORY:
History is things that happened in the past. In the past they didn't have electricity, cars, trucks and video games. In the 1900's, photos didn't have colour, but things change and now they do. Do you want to know what five minutes tardy means? 'Tardy' means late. If you were five minutes late you had to say in for an hour after school. Fact: did you know that one pound was a lot of money back then?

           SHARE OUR LEARNING JOURNEY
It's hard to believe that we are almost at the end of Term 2.  We have had a wonderful first half of the year with many engaging activities. Some of the activities this term have included Scientists in Schools, the John Monash Science in-visit, sport clinics, Passionate Pursuits, Open Mornings - Maths and Science, Life Education, ANZAC Day ceremony, Cross Country and Student Forums.

Here are some strategies and facts about our learning this term:
I am proud of the subtraction problems I have been doing this term.  Always put the largest number first and take away the smallest number from it. Dylan
Subtraction is easier when you know how to trade.  For example 53-28= 40 and 13 - 28  Andjelka
The number on the right side is smaller than one and the number on the left is greater than one.  Victoria
An easy way to do 5 times tables: for example 5 x 7.  A half of 7 is 3.5.  You take away the decimal point and then the answer is 35. Eden

It's good to add interesting words- looking in dictionaries and a thesaurus can help you.  When you read different books you can also learn new words. Kosta
Explanation reports explain why or how about something.  Jack

I have improved in my comprehension because now I look back at the text to find information.  Dylan
I am reading well.  I concentrate on the words and what they mean.  Edward

When you mix dry ice with water it creates fog. Amarlie
Dry ice is so cold it can burn you.  Holly
Science is everywhere!  Declan

Wishing all our Level Three families an enjoyable holiday.  Thank you for your support and encouragement this semester.  Working together strengthens our aims of igniting a passion for learning and preparing our students for the future.
